MACC-II (Monitoring Atmospheric Composition and Climate - Interim Implementation) operated and improved data-analysis and modelling systems for a range of atmospheric constituents that are important for climate, air quality and surface solar radiation.
Product lines included data records on atmospheric composition for recent years, data for monitoring present conditions and forecasts of the distribution of key constituents for a few days ahead.
MACC-II provided the pre-operational atmospheric environmental service of Copernicus (CAMS). This service complements the weather analysis and forecasting services provided by European and national organisations by addressing the composition of the atmosphere. The project comprised 36 European partner institutes and was co-ordinated by ECMWF.
MACC-II published a Final Report, which is available from http://atmosphere.copernicus.eu/sites/default/files/repository/MACCII_FinalReport_0.pdf
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Framework Programme under grant agreement number 283576.
